Level ground and a sound base from the start

Work begins with a close review of the soil report and structural drawings to confirm excavation depth and perimeter. Soil conditions vary across Kuwait's governorates; coastal areas sometimes contain salt-bearing layers and loose sand that require care in bracing the excavation sides and removing any standing water before foundations are poured. The cut is made with machines sized to the site, and the bearing surface is trimmed clean of disturbed material before blinding concrete is placed.

Backfill is as critical as the excavation itself. Selected granular material is returned in controlled layers, each compacted with a mechanical rammer or plate compactor, and density readings are taken to confirm the required compaction standard is met. Using construction debris or clay-heavy soil as fill is a common error that leads to differential settlement, which shows up as cracked floor slabs and block walls months after the build is complete.

The work closes with finish grading to the approved contours, sloping the ground surface to carry runoff away from the foundation. Where waterproofing or a basement is part of the project, grading is coordinated with the waterproofing contractor before final fill is placed against the wall. Each stage is documented with site photographs handed to the owner or supervising engineer, so no buried work is left unverified.
