How a municipal sewer connection is done right in Kuwait
The work starts by locating the nearest public inspection manhole and plotting the pipe route so that a continuous downward fall is maintained without obstacles. The trench is dug to a depth that gives the pipe adequate cover, and a clean sand bed is prepared at the base. This early planning determines the whole outcome, because any break in gradient is almost impossible to correct once the trench is closed.
Once the uPVC pipes are laid with solvent-cemented joints, an inspection chamber is set at every direction change and at the intervals that allow future rodding access. At the public manhole, the wall is cored and a hydraulic mortar collar locks the pipe in place. The connection level must sit below the existing channel invert inside the manhole, because a higher entry turns the public chamber into a point where sewage backs up into the private drain under load.
Before any backfill, enough water is poured to run a live flow test from the building's drain connection all the way to the public manhole. Any ponding or backflow is corrected at this stage. The trench is then closed in compacted layers to prevent surface settlement over the pipe. If the building is still under construction, completing the connection before external finishes are laid avoids the need to break tiling later if access is ever needed.

Yes, breaking into the public network requires coordination with the relevant authority to confirm the correct manhole and entry method. We handle this coordination as part of the service.
How is the correct pipe gradient established for the run from the building to the public manhole?
The outlet level at the building and the invert level inside the manhole are measured, and the required fall is calculated to give enough velocity to carry solids without being so steep that liquids race ahead and leave solids behind.
What happens when the building sits far from the nearest public inspection manhole?
The line is extended with intermediate inspection chambers added at the required intervals. Where the distance is very great, connecting to a closer manhole or one that gives a better gradient relationship is evaluated before work begins.
Can the sewer connection be made to a building whose external finishes are fully complete?
Yes, but it means cutting through the external paving or tiles over the trench line and reinstating them after backfill. We assess the route beforehand to keep the area that needs breaking to a minimum.
Why is an intermediate inspection chamber placed inside the property boundary and not only at the connection point?
An intermediate chamber allows the private drain to be rodded, jetted and inspected without opening the public manhole. It is placed at bends and at the prescribed rodding intervals so that every section of the line can be reached if a blockage occurs.
Does the connection process differ between a building under construction and an existing completed one?
In a building under construction the connection is done before external finishes are laid, which saves time and cost and allows the most direct route. In a completed building, breaking and reinstating the finished surface becomes part of the scope and affects the overall price.
