Partial board bonding
Spot-bonding only leaves air voids that form thermal bridges and allow boards to rock under load
Skipping the screed layer
Tiling straight onto board without screed causes uneven tiles and crushes the board under point loads

Call nowCan under-tile insulation be installed during a renovation without raising ceiling heights noticeably?
Yes. Board thickness typically ranges from 20 to 50 mm and can be partly offset by a thinner screed. The effect on room height is small and is calculated before work begins.
Is under-tile insulation useful only on ground floors, or does it also benefit upper floors?
It works well on both. Ground floors gain protection from moisture and cold ground, while upper floors under a sun-exposed slab benefit directly from reduced heat coming through the ceiling below.
Is XPS board safe under heavy marble tiles?
Yes, provided the correct compressive-strength grade is selected. Floor-grade XPS handles furniture and daily traffic, and a screed layer above it distributes the load evenly before marble is laid.
Does under-tile insulation work on walkable roof decks?
Yes, and it is one of the better options for walkable roofs. The board sits under the roof tiles and simultaneously insulates and shields the waterproofing membrane from UV and direct heat.
Why do tile grout joints crack shortly after installation in Kuwait?
The most common cause is missing perimeter movement joints. Intense heat expands both tile and slab, crushing rigid grout. Proper under-tile insulation combined with flexible edge joints significantly reduces that movement.
