Call nowAt what stage exactly should the compliance certificate be requested?
Request it after all insulation layers are applied but before they are covered by tiles, render or any finish coat. Once the insulation is hidden, on-site thickness verification is no longer possible.
Can roof and wall insulation be covered in a single certificate?
Yes, a single document can cover both roof and walls provided all areas are ready for inspection in one visit. If the works are phased, each phase is better inspected and documented separately.
What happens if the inspection finds the insulation is thinner than specified?
The shortfall is recorded in the findings report with the affected areas identified. The compliance certificate is not issued until a supplementary layer is added, a re-inspection is done, and the required thickness is confirmed.
Is the compliance certificate required only for new buildings or for existing ones too?
Both cases apply. For new buildings it forms part of completion requirements. For existing buildings where insulation was added during renovation, the certificate proves the work was done to the correct specification.
Is it acceptable to get a certificate for only part of a building?
Technically a certificate can be issued for a specific area such as the roof only, but a partial certificate explicitly states that the rest of the building was not inspected. A complete document requires all insulated areas to be checked.
