Call nowCan marble sills be fixed directly over the existing sill without removing it?
It is possible if the existing sill is solid, level and has no voids beneath it. A cracked or uneven base should be broken out first so a full mortar bed can be achieved without hidden gaps.
Why do white marks appear on marble window sills after rain?
The marks are usually mineral salt deposits or mortar residue drawn through unsealed stone pores. A penetrating impregnator applied after installation prevents this, and most existing deposits can be cleaned with an appropriate stone cleaner.
What thickness of marble is appropriate for window sills in Kuwait?
A thickness between 2 and 3 centimetres is standard for residential sills. Thinner slabs risk fracture during cutting or under load, particularly on wide openings or those with a shaped front edge.
Do exterior-facing window sills need a different marble type from interior ones?
Highly porous calcareous marbles perform poorly on exterior sills in coastal areas due to salt attack. A denser, low-absorption stone with periodic re-impregnation is the better choice for sills exposed to the outdoor environment.
How should marble window sills be cleaned regularly without damaging them?
Use a soft damp cloth or a pH-neutral cleaner. Acidic cleaners and abrasive powders scratch and etch the surface over time. Check the silicone perimeter joint periodically and reseal any section that shows cracking or separation.
