What sets this area apart

Abu Halifa is a modern residential area near Ahmadi town with two-storey villas and mid-rise apartment buildings on regular plots. The area is close to the coast, so salt spray and high humidity affect walls and metal frames. Marble sills here face salt fog that corrodes cement and mortar from underneath if we do not use salt-resistant sealants and mortar. Moisture also seeps behind the marble and damages the wall inside, so we install small drainage slots and seal all joints with high-grade silicone.

Abu Halifa is in Ahmadi governorate, near Ahmadi Town and under the influence of the marine environment.

Cement mortar in coastal zones requires salt-resistant cement (SR type) to reduce internal corrosion.

Questions about Marble window sills in Abu Halifa

Call now
Does sea salt affect the marble itself or only the mortar and silicone?

Marble itself is salt-resistant, but mortar and silicone are vulnerable. Salt accumulates in mortar pores and causes gradual crumbling. So we use salt-resistant mortar and silicone from the start and recommend regular freshwater cleaning.

Do you put drainage holes behind the marble to let water out?

Yes, we drill small 8 mm drainage holes in the lower edge of the marble before installation, roughly every 30 centimetres, to let pooled water drain outward instead of accumulating behind the sill.
