Call nowDo I need engineering approval before cutting a load-bearing wall?
Yes. Any cut that affects a load-bearing element needs approved drawings from a structural engineer and temporary propping before work starts. Cutting without approval puts the whole structure at risk.
How do you avoid hitting rebar during cutting?
An electronic rebar scanner maps bar positions and depths before any cut is made. The actual cut line is then drawn to avoid load-bearing bars based on the scan results.
Does wet cutting damage nearby finishes?
Water contains dust and protects finishes from concrete particles. We sheet off nearby areas and deal with process water immediately after cutting is complete.
Can old concrete be cut when no original drawings exist?
Yes, but it makes on-site scanning more critical. We survey the element physically to map rebar depth and direction before any execution step.
Will cutting dust affect the rest of the house?
Wet cutting reduces dust significantly. We seal off adjoining areas with plastic sheeting and use a wet vacuum for slurry. The site is cleaned before handover.
