What this service covers - Floor slab pouring

What this service covers

Structural floor slabs poured and finished from rebar placement to surface level.

  • Ground-floor slab

Slab poured directly over completed ground-floor foundations and beams.

  • Upper-floor slabs

Suspended slabs for each storey cast within the structural concrete frame.

  • Roof slab

Roof slab poured with correct fall to drain rainwater away properly.

  • Extension or added-floor slab

New slab tied structurally to an existing reinforced concrete frame.

  • Basement slab

Basement floor slab with sub-slab waterproofing against groundwater ingress.

  • Level and surface tolerance

Laser level check and grade correction before final screeding and finishing.

Mistakes that damage floor slabs

  1. Insufficient concrete cover

Rebar sitting too close to the surface corrodes quickly and causes spalling later.

  2. Pouring at peak heat

Midday pours in Kuwaiti summer accelerate setting and create shrinkage cracks throughout the slab.

  3. Skipping wet curing

Stopping curing too early reduces the slab's design strength and increases its permeability.

  4. Coring without a drawing check

Drilling pipe openings without scanning for rebar severs load-carrying bars and weakens the slab.

Before you call us

  1. Approved structural drawings

Confirm you have approved drawings specifying slab thickness, concrete grade and rebar diameter.

  2. Formwork and support readiness

Verify that formwork and all supporting structural elements below are complete and inspected.

  3. Pump truck access route

Identify a clear entry path for the pump truck and mixer parking on the street.

  4. Preferred pour time

Decide whether an early-morning or night pour suits the site schedule and season.

More in rebar & concrete pouring.

What goes wrong on most builds.

Most problems are built in early and found late. These three cost the most to fix.

  1. 01

    Shortcuts under the finish

Concrete and steel disappear under the finish, so a shortcut there stays hidden until it cracks.

  2. 02

    Mistakes behind the wall

A water or drain mistake found after the finish means breaking new tile.

  3. 03

    A rushed finish

The finish is what you live with every day. Rushing it shows in every corner.

The solution?

One licensed company for the structure, the pipes and the finish.

  1. A concrete slab with its rebar grid before the pour
    Shortcuts under the finish

    Engineering supervision on site

The structure is followed before it is covered.

  2. Water and drain pipes inside a wall before tiling

    Plumbing by the same company

    Laid before the walls close.

  3. A bathroom finished in modern marble

The same company finishes and maintains.

How it works.

  1. First contact

Call or WhatsApp us with project details and structural drawing information.

  2. Site visit

Engineer visits to check formwork, rebar placement and pump truck access.

  3. Quotation

Detailed quote covering volumes, concrete grade, and agreed pour schedule.

  4. Pour and curing

Slab poured at agreed time; wet curing begins immediately and continues as required.

  5. Stripping and handover

Formwork struck after strength gain; slab handed over with a pour record.

What sets the price.

Several slab-specific factors combine to set the final quote for each project.

Get a quote
  1. Slab area and thickness

Larger area and greater thickness increase concrete volume and rebar weight directly.

  2. Concrete grade specified

Higher-grade or sulphate-resistant mixes carry a greater material cost per cubic metre.

  3. Rebar complexity

Double mats or large-diameter bars increase both labour time and steel tonnage.

  4. Pump access conditions

Tight sites or high floors may require specialised pump equipment at extra cost.

  5. Pour timing and duration

Night pours or extended curing supervision affect overall labour and logistics costs.

Why one contractor beats four.

Every extra contractor means another schedule and another excuse. With us, one company answers for all of it.

  1. Turnkey

Shell and finishing with one company, from footings to keys.

  2. Pay in instalments

Construction and finishing on instalments. Ask us for the details.

  3. Engineering supervision

Architectural drawings and engineering supervision on site.

  4. After handover

Maintenance contracts and a 24-hour emergency plumber.

What is the difference between a suspended slab and a slab on grade?

A suspended slab spans between beams and columns and carries structural loads. A slab on grade rests on compacted fill. Each requires a different thickness, rebar layout and concrete grade to suit its loading condition.

How thick should a floor slab be in a typical Kuwaiti villa?

Thickness is set by the approved structural drawings based on span length and floor loads. It cannot be decided on site without the structural engineer's design; changing it without approval weakens the slab.

Can a floor slab be poured in separate sections?

Yes, construction joints allow phased pouring when the full area cannot be poured at once. The structural engineer must specify joint locations and rebar continuity to prevent weakness at the joint.

How does hot weather affect the quality of a freshly poured slab?

High temperatures accelerate cement hydration and increase surface evaporation, reducing strength and causing shrinkage cracks. Early-morning pours and immediate wet curing are essential to maintain the design strength in Kuwait's summer.

When can the slab carry foot traffic or construction loads after pouring?

The supervising engineer decides based on test cube results and the concrete grade used. Walking on or loading the slab before sufficient strength is reached can cause permanent surface damage or structural cracks.
