Call nowCan the pool be waterproofed without removing the old tiles?
It depends on tile condition. Sound tiles with no hollow spots can sometimes be waterproofed over, but loose or hollow tiles must be removed first because they hide active leak points and prevent proper adhesion.
How do I tell whether my pool is losing water to a leak or just evaporation?
Place a bucket of water on the pool edge for 24 hours. If the pool level drops more than the bucket level, there is an active leak rather than evaporation alone.
Are pool waterproofing materials different from roof waterproofing materials?
Yes. Pool waterproofing must withstand constant water contact, chlorine chemicals and hydrostatic pressure. Roof materials resist rain and UV but are not formulated for permanent immersion.
When can tiling start after the waterproofing is applied?
The waterproofing coat must cure fully and pass a water test before any tiling begins. Tiling over an incompletely cured membrane weakens bond strength and compromises the waterproofing.
Does the salt air near Kuwait's coastline affect outdoor pool waterproofing?
Yes. Salt-laden humidity accelerates concrete and metal corrosion. Outdoor pools in coastal areas need waterproofing materials with strong resistance to salt penetration and chemical exposure.
