Call nowCan indoor floor tiles be used in outdoor areas in Kuwait?
Indoor tiles typically have higher water absorption and smoother surfaces, making them prone to slipping and cracking under Kuwait's sun and coastal humidity. Exterior-rated porcelain is specified to handle those conditions.
Why do outdoor tiles tent or crack in summer even when recently laid?
The most common cause is missing or too-widely spaced expansion joints combined with a rigid adhesive. High temperatures expand the tile and slab at different rates, and without relief joints the tile has nowhere to move but up.
Does outdoor tiling need waterproofing even when the surface is not a roof deck?
Yes in most cases. Irrigation water, seasonal rain and ground moisture penetrate joints and accumulate under the tile over time. A waterproofing membrane prevents this and extends the life of both the tile and the substrate.
Is epoxy grout necessary for outdoor tiling or is cement grout sufficient?
Epoxy grout is strongly recommended outdoors because it does not absorb water and resists coastal salt and UV exposure. Cement grout deteriorates faster in these conditions and needs more frequent repointing.
What is the practical difference between tiling a covered porch and an open exterior walkway?
An open walkway faces more severe thermal cycling and direct rain, requiring stricter waterproofing and closer expansion joint spacing. A covered porch reduces but does not eliminate those demands.
