Call nowIs wood-look tile practical in Kuwait's heat?
Yes. Ceramic and porcelain planks do not warp or swell the way real wood does in intense heat. With correct expansion joints left at perimeters and field breaks, the floor stays stable year-round.
What is the difference between ceramic and porcelain plank tiles for installation?
Porcelain planks are denser and heavier, requiring a stronger adhesive and back-buttering on large formats. Ceramic is lighter and easier to cut but less suitable for areas exposed to moisture.
Can wood-look planks be laid directly over old tiles?
It is possible if the existing tiles are fully bonded with no hollow areas and the extra height does not conflict with door clearances and thresholds. We check the old floor before deciding.
How wide should grout joints be for plank-format tiles?
Plank tiles are usually laid with a joint of no more than 2 mm to mimic real wood closely. This narrow joint only works when the substrate is truly level; any unevenness shows as lippage.
Do bedroom plank tiles need an underlayer for sound or thermal reasons?
For standard bedrooms no underlayer is required. If the room sits above an air-conditioned space or another occupied floor and sound transmission is a concern, a suitable decoupling mat can be installed before tiling.
