Call nowWhat is the correct fall for a horizontal drain pipe in a new house?
A horizontal drain typically falls at 1 to 2 percent, meaning 1 to 2 centimetres drop per metre of run. A lower gradient allows Kuwait's fine sand to settle and block the line. A steeper fall lets water run ahead of solids, which then settle and cause blockages too.
Can a drain stub position be moved after the floor screed has been poured?
No. Drain stub positions must be confirmed before the screed is poured. Moving one afterwards means breaking the floor, re-laying the pipe and backfilling again, which is costly and delays finishing works.
Why are 45-degree swept fittings used in drainage instead of square elbows?
Swept fittings allow solids to travel through direction changes without building up. A square elbow acts as a ledge where grease and sand collect, eventually blocking the line.
How does first-fix drainage differ in a multi-storey villa compared to a single-floor house?
A multi-storey building needs vertical stacks that collect branches from each floor and carry them to the ground-level drain, with a vent for each stack. A single-floor house relies mainly on horizontal buried runs below the ground-floor screed.
Does first-fix drainage include connecting the line to the public sewer network?
Yes. The work includes running the main drain from the building out to the municipal inspection manhole and confirming a sound connection to the public sewer network.
