A kitchen requires a dedicated washing machine drain outlet and a larger drain branch to handle grease discharge. Appliance positions such as the dishwasher and sink dictate pipe routes differently from a bathroom, where fixture stubs follow a more standard layout.
Does the washing machine need its own drain stub in the kitchen first-fix?
Yes. The washing machine discharge needs a dedicated outlet set at the correct height to prevent backflow. Tying it directly into the sink trap often causes overflow when both discharge at the same time.
Does Kuwait's hard water influence which supply pipe is used for the kitchen?
Yes. PPR is preferred because its heat-fused joints form a uniform bore that mineral scale cannot grip as easily as it does inside galvanised iron, which corrodes internally and gradually reduces flow.
Can the sink stub position be shifted after the pressure test but before the wall is plastered?
Yes, and this is exactly the right moment. The pipes are still exposed and a repositioning is straightforward. Once the plaster goes on, any change requires cutting into the wall and reinstating the finish.
How are pipe routes recorded before the kitchen walls are plastered over?
The installer measures pipe positions from fixed reference walls, photographs the open chases and records the routes on a simple as-built sketch handed to the owner. This prevents guesswork in any future maintenance or extension work.
