Call nowCan wood parquet be laid over existing ceramic tiles without removing them?
It is possible if the existing tiles are solidly bonded and the surface is level. Any loose or raised tiles must be removed first because they prevent the wood boards from lying flat and reduce bond strength.
What is the difference between engineered wood and solid wood parquet in Kuwait's conditions?
Engineered wood uses a cross-ply core that resists expansion and contraction from temperature and humidity shifts. Solid wood offers a premium look but is more sensitive to Kuwait's extreme heat swings and the dry-then-humid indoor cycles driven by heavy AC use.
How many lacquer coats are enough to protect wood parquet in Kuwait?
A single coat wears down quickly under Kuwait's heat and fine dust. At least three coats with light sanding between each build a sealed surface that handles daily use and protects the wood from drying out.
Does wood parquet installation on a ground floor differ from upper floors?
Yes. Ground floors face rising moisture from the soil below, making a moisture barrier more critical and sometimes requiring a stronger treatment. Upper floors carry lower moisture risk unless a nearby bathroom or pipe leak is present.
Can wood parquet be installed in a room that runs on AC continuously with windows kept closed?
Yes, but continuous AC dries the air and causes boards to shrink, opening small gaps between them. Choosing dimensionally stable engineered wood, leaving proper expansion gaps at the walls, and avoiding very low AC temperatures all reduce this risk.
