Call nowCan herringbone parquet be laid over existing ceramic tiles?
Yes, if the tiles are solidly bonded and reasonably flat. Any height variation must be levelled first, because the herringbone pattern shows substrate unevenness more clearly than straight-lay boards do.
Why do herringbone boards start making noise soon after installation?
The most common cause is partial adhesive coverage leaving hollow sections under the board. Kuwait's daily heat cycles cause expansion and contraction, and any unbonded section flexes and clicks underfoot.
Is herringbone parquet suitable for Kuwait's coastal areas?
Engineered wood is more suitable than solid wood in coastal zones because it is less reactive to humidity and salt air. A moisture-resistant adhesive and good room ventilation are also important.
How much extra material should be ordered for a herringbone layout?
The continuous angle cuts in a herringbone layout produce more off-cut waste than straight installation. The exact extra quantity is calculated during the site inspection based on room shape and dimensions.
Can herringbone parquet be extended later into an adjoining room?
It is possible if the wood species and thickness match, but aligning the pattern across two rooms requires the axis coordinates to be recorded during the first installation so the extension continues the same grid.
