Wood parquet in Kuwait - Dhaher

Wood parquet in Dhaher

Wood parquet installation in Dhaher begins with substrate moisture reading and control before any board goes down. The hard desert soil and arid climate require careful moisture testing under tile or concrete to prevent swelling and cupping later.

What sets this area apart

Most Dhaher homes are built on concrete slabs directly over sandy soil, some with old ceramic tile over a thin cement layer. Capillary moisture seeps from below even in the dry climate, especially in rooms near kitchens and bathrooms. We remove old tile, clean the substrate, measure moisture with a digital meter, then apply an appropriate moisture barrier before bonding the parquet boards with reliable adhesive.

Dhaher sits in Ahmadi governorate in the southern desert region near the Saudi border.

Substrate moisture must not exceed 12 percent before parquet bonding per international standards.

Questions about Wood parquet in Dhaher

Call now
Why does parquet swell and cup months after installation?

Usually because moisture was not measured or an adequate barrier was not applied before bonding. Wood absorbs capillary moisture from under the concrete slab, so the underside of the board swells more than the top, causing cupping.

Can parquet be laid directly on old ceramic tile?

No, the tile and cement layer must be removed and the concrete substrate checked for moisture first. Laying parquet directly on tile creates an unstable base with poor adhesive bond, and any trapped moisture underneath will cause rapid swelling.
