Moisture-resistant engineered boards
The wood veneer sits on a multi-ply core that expands far less than solid wood under kitchen steam.
Flexible flooring adhesive
Remains slightly flexible once cured, absorbing minor thermal movement without letting boards lift.
Liquid vapour barrier
Rolled onto the slab to form a continuous film that blocks floor moisture before board bonding.
Water-based lacquer top coat
Applied to the board surface for a hard film that resists grease, stains and daily cleaning products.

Yes, provided boards are moisture-resistant engineered type laid over a proper vapour barrier. They handle daily steam and regular cleaning products well. Untreated solid wood is not suitable for a kitchen.
Should kitchen parquet run under wall cabinets and built-in appliances?
Running boards beneath fixed cabinets rather than stopping at their face gives a continuous look and makes any future layout change easier. Built-in appliances that may be removed for servicing should have parquet run beneath them too.
How does kitchen parquet compare with ceramic tiles for comfort when standing long hours?
Parquet is warmer underfoot and easier on joints during long cooking sessions compared with hard ceramic. The trade-off is that spills must be wiped immediately, as sitting water can damage even moisture-resistant boards over time.
Can kitchen parquet be extended into an open-plan dining or living area in one continuous run?
Yes, open-plan layouts often use a single continuous parquet run. Expansion thresholds must be placed at any structural joint and both zones must be at the same floor level to avoid any height difference.
Is parquet compatible with underfloor heating in a kitchen?
Engineered parquet is more compatible with underfloor heating than solid wood due to its lower thermal movement. The heating system must be declared before selecting the board type and adhesive, as some products are not rated for heated substrates.
