Call nowCan exterior wood doors be repainted without full stripping?
It depends on the condition of the existing paint. If the old coat is firm and not flaking, sanding and painting over it is acceptable. If it is peeling or has lost adhesion, full stripping is necessary for a lasting result.
What is the difference between semi-gloss and full gloss for doors?
Full gloss is easier to wipe clean but highlights any surface imperfections, so it demands very thorough preparation. Semi-gloss hides minor flaws better and suits bathroom and kitchen doors exposed to moisture.
How many coats do exterior metal doors need in Kuwait?
At minimum, one anti-rust primer coat and two topcoats are needed. Doors directly exposed to sun or near the coast may benefit from a third topcoat for added UV and salt protection.
Can an exterior door be painted a different colour without repainting the whole facade?
Yes, the door can be painted a completely different colour using careful masking to protect surrounding walls. Many Kuwaiti villa owners choose a contrasting door colour without touching the facade paint.
Why does wood door paint peel so quickly in Kuwait?
Sharp temperature swings between day and night cause wood to repeatedly expand and contract. Without a proper filler primer and a flexible UV-resistant topcoat, the paint loses adhesion quickly and peels.
