Call nowAre decorative paint effects suitable for Kuwaiti interiors?
Yes, decorative effects are designed for interiors away from direct sun and coastal salt. Applied over the right primer on a sound surface, they hold up well to air-conditioned indoor conditions.
Can a decorative finish go directly over old paint?
It depends on the existing paint's condition. If it is sound and not peeling, the surface can be cleaned, lightly sanded and primed before application. If the old coat is loose or flaking, it must be removed first or the new finish will lift with it.
How many coats does a velvet or plaster effect need?
Most decorative effects need a primer coat followed by 2 to 3 coats of the effect itself, depending on the depth required. Multi-layer plaster effects typically need more coats than a velvet finish.
Does the finish type differ in humid rooms like bathrooms?
Yes. Wet rooms like bathrooms need moisture-resistant materials. Most aesthetic decorative effects are better suited to dry areas such as living rooms and bedrooms.
Can a decorative effect cover just one wall in a room?
Yes, a single feature wall with a decorative effect is common in modern interiors. The adjoining walls are painted in a plain colour that complements the effect so the transition looks intentional.
