Call nowCan a gypsum board ceiling be installed in a room with a low floor-to-slab height?
Yes, but the drop must be at least enough to clear the metal grid and any cables. Where AC ducts are present the required drop increases. We confirm the minimum during the site survey.
What is the difference between a suspended grid and a direct-fix ceiling system?
A suspended grid creates a service void that hides ducts and cables and allows future access. Direct fixing leaves no void and is only practical in very high rooms with no services to conceal.
Do recessed light cut-outs need any special treatment in the gypsum board?
The cut-out itself needs no treatment, but a correctly rated back box must be fixed to the grid before boarding, and adequate clearance between the fitting and the board must be maintained depending on the lamp type.
Why do joints become visible after painting even when the jointing compound looked flat before?
This usually happens because the jointing area absorbs paint differently from the surrounding board, or because only one thin coat was applied. Raking light reveals even a slight ridge that the eye misses in direct light.
Can a gypsum board ceiling be opened to access an AC condensate leak then re-closed neatly?
Yes. A specific panel can be cut out and replaced with a new board, then the joints re-taped and feathered. The repair becomes invisible after painting if the jointing is done properly.
