Call nowCan kitchen gypsum board be fitted over an existing suspended tile ceiling?
Usually not. Old tile ceilings rarely give a level enough base and may hide problems underneath. Removing them and starting with a new galvanised frame gives a flat, properly anchored result.
Is green moisture-resistant board enough for a kitchen, or is there a stronger option?
Green board is sufficient for most residential kitchens when combined with a suitable primer and paint. High-steam commercial kitchens may call for a cement-fibre board or direct tiling rather than gypsum.
How does Kuwait's intense heat affect gypsum board above a kitchen ceiling?
Outdoor heat alone does not damage interior board, but repeated steam from cooking followed by sudden AC cooling creates expansion and contraction cycles. Correct perimeter gaps and fibreglass tape protect against the resulting joint stress.
Can upper kitchen cabinets be hung off the kitchen gypsum frame?
Cabinets must be anchored into the concrete or block wall behind the board, not into the gypsum or its frame alone. The board acts as a finish layer; fixing bolts pass through it into the structural wall.
Can a kitchen gas pipe be boxed inside gypsum board?
Gas pipes require continuous ventilation and permanent access, so they cannot be sealed inside a closed gypsum boxing. A ventilated box with a removable access panel is the accepted approach.
