Call nowCan a gypsum board partition carry wall-mounted shelves or screens?
Light loads fix with specialist gypsum anchors. Heavy items like large screens or cabinets need steel noggins built into the frame during installation, so plan these before boarding begins.
How does a gypsum board partition compare with a block wall for sound insulation?
A block wall has a natural mass advantage for sound. A gypsum partition can close much of that gap by packing mineral wool between the faces, making it suitable for residential rooms.
Can a gypsum partition be removed later without damaging the floor or ceiling?
Yes, the partition dismantles far more cleanly than block. Small anchor holes remain in the floor and ceiling slab and are filled with compound before repainting.
Does adding a second layer of board on each face improve fire resistance?
Yes, doubling the board layers with fire-rated board raises the partition's fire performance. The exact requirement depends on the building type and the specifications set by the relevant authority.
Why do cracks appear where a gypsum partition meets the concrete ceiling after a while?
Concrete expands and contracts sharply in Kuwait's heat cycles. Fixing the partition rigidly to the slab forces movement to show as a crack. Leaving a narrow expansion gap filled with flexible sealant absorbs that movement.
