Slats too thin flex and crack under strong wind loads and let dust accumulate in joints.
Out-of-plumb channels

Skipping the bottom seal
Omitting the rubber bottom seal leaves a gap that dust and insects pass through freely.
UV-unstable paint finish

Call nowCan aluminium shutters be fitted without breaking the wall or changing the existing window frame?
In most cases yes. The drum box can be surface-mounted above the opening on the exterior wall face, and channels fix alongside the existing frame. Wall breaking is only needed when the lintel arrangement makes surface mounting impossible.
What is the difference between ribbed and flat aluminium slats?
Ribbed slats have a formed profile that resists bending under wind load and suits wider openings. Flat slats are lighter and lower cost but are better suited to smaller windows where lateral load is modest.
Why does aluminium oxidise and show a white powdery surface after a while?
White oxidation forms when bare aluminium reacts with moisture and salt air. A proper powder-coat finish seals the surface and prevents this. Visible oxidation on a shutter means the coating was too thin or has been damaged and needs recoating.
Does the floor level of the building affect the installation cost?
Yes. Upper-floor windows need scaffolding or a scissor lift for safe working at height, which adds equipment and labour time to the cost. Ground-floor work is done from a standard ladder.
Does a dark-coloured shutter absorb more heat and weaken over time?
Dark shades do absorb more heat and raise the slat surface temperature. High-grade powder coat handles this without degrading, but heat trapped between a closed dark shutter and plain glass can be a factor. Many owners choose lighter tones to reduce that effect.
