Yes, if tiles are intact and well-bonded, cracks can often be addressed from the shell exterior or edges. If cracking runs directly beneath the tiled surface, removing those tiles becomes a technical necessity to reach and seal the substrate.
What causes pool plaster to crack shortly after renovation?
The most common causes are refilling before the plaster has fully cured, incorrect material mixing ratios, or unresolved movement in the concrete shell that was not stabilised before the new coat was applied.
How often does a private pool need a full renovation?
There is no fixed cycle. Original build quality, hours of use and routine upkeep all affect the timeline. A well-maintained pool with prompt small repairs can go many years before needing full renovation.
Can the pool shape or depth be changed during renovation?
Changing shape or depth requires breaking part of the concrete shell and recasting it. This is structural work rather than standard renovation, needs engineering drawings and prior approval before starting.
Does the chlorine and salt water in Kuwaiti pools accelerate shell deterioration?
Yes, salt-based sanitisers and high chlorine concentrations gradually attack concrete and grout joints. Choosing chemical-resistant waterproofing and plaster materials during renovation is essential to extend the life of the repair.
