How electrical works are done right in Kuwait
In a new build, electrical work starts with the first-fix stage: setting conduit runs and back-boxes in walls before plastering, then pulling cables through and terminating them at the distribution board once finishes are complete. Selecting the correct cable cross-section for each circuit matters greatly in Kuwait because AC units run at high loads for most of the year, and undersized cables overheat, damaging insulation and creating a fire risk.
In older villa renovations, original wiring is often undersized for modern loads. The electrician starts by testing the main board and all breakers, then traces each circuit to find damaged sections. Kuwait's coastal humidity and sharp temperature swings accelerate insulation degradation, so any cable with cracked or brittle sheathing is replaced even if still conducting. Fitting a new distribution board with correctly graded breakers gives the building better protection and room to add circuits later.
Lighting installation covers recessed fixtures in gypsum ceilings, spotlights, and external fittings rated for dust and heat. Each lighting run is wired on its own circuit so a fault in one area does not affect the rest of the building. External fixtures in Kuwait need weatherproof cable glands and enclosures because of dust-laden air and temperature extremes. After each stage, a full load test and insulation resistance measurement are carried out to confirm the installation is safe before the next finish layer goes on.

In most cases yes. New cables can often be pulled through existing conduit or with targeted chasing along specific routes, then patched with plaster or paint. The extent of wall work depends on how the original installation was routed.
What is the difference between electrical first-fix and second-fix?
First-fix covers setting conduit and back-boxes in walls before plastering. Second-fix is pulling cables through, fitting switches and sockets, and connecting the distribution board after finishes are complete.
How many circuits does a villa with heavy AC and full lighting need?
There is no fixed number; it depends on room count and appliance loads. The electrician calculates total load and designs the board so each heavy load such as AC units and water heaters has its own dedicated breaker, keeping the installation safe and traceable.
Does your service include fitting spotlights in gypsum ceilings?
Yes. We run the lighting circuits and fit spotlights in gypsum ceilings, coordinating with the gypsum team so fixture positions are fixed before the boards are closed.
Why does power cut out in one room only without affecting the rest of the house?
This usually means that room sits on its own circuit whose breaker tripped due to an overload or a localised fault in a cable or socket. Checking that circuit's breaker in the distribution board identifies whether the cause is a trip, a loose connection or a wiring fault.
Do I need to replace the distribution board when renovating an old villa?
Not always, but if the existing board lacks residual current protection or has ageing breakers that no longer trip reliably, replacement is a necessity rather than an upgrade. A new board also makes it straightforward to add circuits as the building's needs grow.
