Most fibreglass tanks are repaired in place after draining and drying. Removal is only considered when access to a damaged section is completely impossible from the existing position.
How do I know whether a crack can be patched or the tank needs full replacement?
Localised or surface cracks respond well to patching. When the shell has lost structural stiffness across a large area or the inner surface has broken down extensively, replacement is more cost-effective than repeated repairs.
Does Kuwait's summer heat accelerate cracking in fibreglass tanks?
Roof-mounted tanks expand under intense midday heat and contract at night. This repeated thermal cycling fatigues the gel coat layer and leads to hairline cracks, especially on tanks that have been exposed to direct sun for many years.
Is the recoating material safe for drinking water contact?
The coatings applied are rated for drinking water contact. Full cure must be confirmed before the tank is refilled, as refilling too early can affect both the coating bond and water quality.
Does the hard water in Kuwait damage the interior coat of a fibreglass tank over time?
Mineral scale from hard water builds up on the interior coat and is abrasive when removed. Harsh scraping can scratch or thin the coating, so mild acid-based descalers are preferred during routine cleaning to protect the repaired surface.
