Call nowCan a wooden door be installed at an exterior entrance exposed directly to the sun?
Yes, but the door blank must be a stable engineered or hardwood timber with a UV-resistant finish. Untreated softwood exposed to direct Kuwaiti sun will crack and warp within a short time.
How many hinges does a heavy solid-core wooden door need?
A standard solid-core door typically requires 3 hinges spaced evenly. Very heavy doors may need 4. Correct spacing prevents the door from sagging and pulling the frame out of plumb over time.
What changes in the installation between an interior door and an exterior one?
An exterior door needs a deeper frame, heavier draught seals, and higher-security locks. All hardware must be corrosion-resistant because coastal humidity and heat attack standard steel fittings quickly.
Can a wooden door be installed in an older wall opening that is not perfectly level?
Minor variation is corrected by packing the frame before fixing it. If the opening is significantly out of square, some masonry adjustment may be needed first to ensure the door operates correctly.
Does the installation finish include treating the joint between the frame and the wall?
Yes, the architrave is fixed around the frame to cover that joint and any remaining gaps are filled. This detail matters both to stop dust accumulation and to give the installation a clean finished look.
