How door and window work is done right in Kuwait
Correct door installation begins with inspecting the opening, not just the door leaf. If the frame is cracked or the surrounding wall is uneven, even a high-quality door will stick or leave visible gaps. The fitter first levels and anchors the frame with the right fixings for the wall type, then hangs the leaf and adjusts the hinges until the door swings cleanly and latches without force. The gap between frame and wall is then filled with an appropriate sealant to close any air path.
Window sealing is often overlooked in Kuwaiti buildings but its effect is real. Small gaps around aluminium frames let fine dust work through continuously, and they allow conditioned air to escape while hot outdoor air pushes in. The fix involves UV-resistant silicone along the outer perimeter and a compressible foam strip at the inner frame rebate. This straightforward step reduces the load on the AC system and cuts the dust that settles on floors and furniture.
Custom doors become necessary when a wall opening is non-standard or when the owner wants a design that has no ready-made equivalent. The opening is measured precisely, the design is drawn, the door is fabricated, then installed with clearance left for a closer or secondary lock to be added later. Window guards are anchored into the frame or surrounding masonry and finished with a rust-resistant coating suited to coastal conditions where salt air accelerates corrosion on unprotected metal.

Minor warping is fixed by planing the edges and resetting the hinges. If the timber is split or swollen through its core, replacement is more practical than repeated repairs.
Why does dust get in through a window even when it is fully closed?
An aluminium frame without perimeter sealant leaves a hairline gap between frame and wall that is wide enough for fine Kuwaiti dust to pass through. Applying the correct silicone sealant closes that path completely.
Is a hydraulic door closer suitable for all door types?
Closers suit most doors but the unit must be sized to match the door weight. Fitting an oversized closer on a light door makes it difficult to open and stresses the hinges over time.
Can window guards be fitted to any wall type?
Yes, guards can be anchored into concrete or block walls using the correct fixings for each substrate. Anchoring into the surrounding wall rather than the frame alone is what gives them lasting strength.
What is the practical difference in materials between an interior and an exterior wooden door?
An exterior door needs denser or engineered timber with a UV-resistant finish because it faces direct sun and Kuwait's intense heat. Interior doors tolerate lighter materials since they are not exposed to those conditions.
Can a custom door be fitted into an old wall opening that is not perfectly square?
Yes, the frame is shimmed and anchored to bring it plumb within the uneven opening, and the door leaf is trimmed to fit cleanly. An out-of-square opening adds a little time to the job but does not prevent a good result.
