Why does sealant around windows crack so quickly in Kuwait?
Extreme heat and intense UV radiation break down standard sealant fast. Using a grade rated for high UV exposure and wide temperature swings significantly extends the seal's service life.
Does window sealing actually reduce the electricity bill?
Yes. Hot air entering through unsealed frame joints adds directly to the cooling load. Closing those gaps reduces the volume of warm air infiltrating the room and eases the load on the AC unit.
What is the difference between weather stripping and sealant, and do I need both?
Sealant closes the fixed joint between the frame and the wall. Weather stripping seals the moving gap between the frame and the sash each time it opens and closes. Most windows need both.
Is window sealing suitable for windows facing the sea in coastal areas?
Yes, and it is more important in coastal areas because salt-laden air forces through joints and accelerates corrosion of frames and interior surfaces. Salt-resistant sealant is used for these exposures.
