Call nowCan a swollen wooden door be repaired or does it have to be replaced?
Mild swelling from humidity is usually fixed by planing, sanding and recoating. If the swelling is severe or the frame is rotten underneath, replacement is more cost-effective than repeated repairs.
Why does a door keep rubbing the frame even after it has been repaired once?
The most common reason is that the previous repair addressed only the symptom. If hinges keep loosening, the frame itself may be moving or the wood is still absorbing moisture and expanding seasonally.
Do cracks on an exterior wooden door affect its structural strength?
Surface cracks start as a cosmetic issue but let moisture in, and Kuwait's heat causes them to widen until they reach the core. Early repair prevents them from reaching a depth that compromises the panel's strength.
Can an interior wooden door be repaired without removing it from the frame?
Many repairs, including hinge tightening, lock adjustment and crack filling, are done with the door in place. Straightening a warped panel or replacing the frame section usually requires removing the door.
How long does a refinish last on an exterior wooden door in Kuwait's climate?
It depends on direct sun exposure and the quality of the topcoat applied. A south-facing door in full sun will need refinishing sooner than one sheltered under a canopy or inside a recessed entrance.
