Yes, tempered glass is available in clear, frosted, tinted and reflective finishes. The choice depends on the privacy level needed and how much solar heat the position receives.
Why does tempered glass sometimes shatter suddenly with no obvious cause?
Spontaneous breakage is usually caused by nickel sulphide inclusions in the glass or edge damage during installation. Intense heat accelerates the failure of panels that already have hidden stress points.
What is the practical safety difference between tempered and laminated glass?
Tempered glass breaks into small blunt fragments, while laminated glass holds together because of its interlayer. Tempered is more heat-resistant; laminated is preferred where the panel must stay in place after an impact.
Can tempered glass be cut or drilled after it has been toughened?
No. All cuts and holes must be made before the glass goes through the tempering process. Attempting to cut toughened glass afterwards shatters the whole panel, which is why accurate site measurement is essential before ordering.
What minimum thickness is suitable for an exterior glass balustrade in Kuwait?
External balustrades generally need panels of at least 10 mm, and 12 mm is common for balconies exposed to wind. The actual thickness is confirmed after inspecting the position and assessing height and wind load.
