It depends on the rebate depth of the existing frame. Single-glazed frames typically lack the depth for a full double-glazed unit, so replacing the frame entirely is usually the practical answer.
What is the real difference between a thermal-break frame and a standard frame in Kuwait?
A standard aluminium frame conducts heat straight from outside to inside. A thermal-break frame interrupts that path with an insulating strip, reducing interior radiant heat and lowering the load on air conditioning.
How do I know if an existing double-glazed unit has lost its insulating performance?
The clearest sign is condensation between the two panes. This means the edge seal has broken down and moist air has entered the cavity. The only fix is replacing the glazed unit entirely.
Is reflective or tinted glass a practical choice for exterior windows in Kuwait?
Yes. Reflective glass deflects a significant portion of solar radiation before it enters, and tinted glass reduces glare. Both are widely used in Kuwait to lower heat gain while keeping natural light.
How long does silicone sealant around a window frame last before it needs replacing?
It depends on silicone grade and sun exposure. UV-resistant structural silicone lasts considerably longer than standard grades. Visible cracking or shrinkage along the joint is a clear indicator that resealing is needed.
