Successful interior decoration starts at the design stage, not at execution. The interior designer produces drawings that fix ceiling levels, recessed lighting layout and AC duct routes before any work begins, because concealing those ducts behind gypsum ceilings requires precise height calculations. The same drawings mark where stone or wood cladding will cover walls, where wallcoverings will go and which surfaces will receive decorative plaster, sized correctly against the actual dimensions of the majlis, reception or diwaniya.

Materials in Kuwait need careful selection. Lightweight natural stone suits interior walls because it handles dry AC air without cracking, but it needs a flexible adhesive mortar that absorbs the wall's thermal movement between summer outdoor heat and cooled interiors. Timber requires treatment before installation and a finishing coat to prevent splitting. Venetian plaster works well on interior walls away from direct moisture sources, where its layered texture adds depth without the risk of humidity causing it to lift.

Execution follows a set sequence: electrical conduits and AC branch lines are completed before gypsum ceilings are closed, then wall cladding is fitted, then decorative coatings and fine finishes go on last. Checking each trade's work before moving to the next phase avoids tearing out completed finishes. At handover, inspect gypsum panels and stone cladding for level and hollow spots behind joints, and review paint or plaster consistency under both artificial and natural light throughout the space.
