Courtyard tiling in Kuwait - Rumaithiya

Courtyard tiling in Rumaithiya

Courtyard tiles in Rumaithiya face direct sun, seasonal rain and salt air from the seafront, so base levelling must be precise, expansion joints properly spaced and drainage slope correct. We select heat and moisture resistant tiles and study the courtyard's fall before fixing to ensure water drains away from the building.

What sets this area apart

Most courtyards in Rumaithiya belong to older and newer seafront villas on relatively large plots, with sandy soil and high salinity. The open exposed surface means large temperature swings between sun and shade, putting stress on joints and tiles. We use fine sand mixed with specialist cement, thick porcelain tiles (12 mm or more) and flexible vinyl expansion joints roughly every 1.5 metres, with correct slope toward the floor drain or central soakaway.

Rumaithiya is in Hawalli governorate, a district of seafront villas close to the waterfront where salt air and moisture are constant.

Heat resistant tiles in open courtyards must withstand a temperature differential exceeding 40 degrees Celsius between hot daylight and cooler night conditions.

Questions about Courtyard tiling in Rumaithiya

Call now
How many expansion joints does a large courtyard need?

We install flexible vinyl expansion joints roughly every 1.5 metres in all directions, especially around the house columns and outer edges. Proper spacing lets tiles expand and contract with temperature swings without cracking.

Can thin tiles be fixed in Rumaithiya's seafront courtyards?

We do not recommend it. The intense exposure to heat, moisture and salt requires thick porcelain tiles (12 mm or more) and strong water resistant adhesive, otherwise spalling and early breakage will occur.
