Rooftop parapet wall in Kuwait - Jabriya

Rooftop parapet wall in Jabriya

Jabriya rooftop parapets face strong winds and intense heat throughout the year, so we build reinforced concrete parapet walls with metal rebar and waterproofing layers to protect the roof and structure. We use sloped stone or concrete copings to shed rainwater, and finish with weather-resistant cement mortar.

What sets this area apart

Most Jabriya villas are relatively modern, three to four storeys high, with roofs directly exposed to seasonal winds and dust, especially in summer. Weak or poorly repaired parapet walls allow water to seep into the basement and foundations, so we build parapets on concrete columns anchored into the roof slab at a depth that ensures stability, with expansion joints every one and a half metres. The roof itself must be perfectly flat and free of standing water before the parapet work begins, which means pouring a levelling concrete layer and applying bitumen or polymer waterproofing before laying any stone or coping.

Jabriya is in Hawalli governorate, near Mubarak Hospital and the medical centre, a district of modern residential villas exposed to seasonal winds.

We install expansion joints in parapet walls every one and a half metres to prevent cracking from extreme thermal changes.

Questions about Rooftop parapet wall in Jabriya

Call now
Do summer winds cause cracking in older parapet walls?

Yes, strong seasonal winds and large temperature swings cause expansion and contraction in concrete and stone, leading to cracks and leaks. We build parapets with regular expansion joints and strong waterproofing to withstand these conditions.

What is the difference between stone and concrete copings for a parapet?

Natural stone is more durable but costlier and may crack in freeze-thaw cycles, while concrete copings are cast in place with internal rebar and fill gaps better. Material choice depends on the performance required and available maintenance.
