Additional floor in Kuwait - Kuwait City

Additional floor in Kuwait City

Adding a floor in Kuwait City requires thorough structural assessment of the existing foundations and columns before any new load. We evaluate the house's capacity for the new level, obtain the municipality permit, then execute reinforcement and pouring as a single coordinated operation.

What sets this area apart

Most houses in Kuwait City sit on plots 20 to 25 metres deep with pile or raft foundations depending on soil type. When adding a floor, we check the columns, concrete collar, and slab thickness, and take soil samples to confirm bearing capacity. Older columns may need reinforcement with carbon fibre or supplementary columns placed beside them, all done under an approved structural consultant's supervision.

Kuwait City lies in the Capital governorate, a historic district with residential buildings from multiple decades alongside government infrastructure near the Grand Mosque and Kuwait Towers.

Adding a floor requires separate structural approval and building permit before any reinforcement or pouring work begins.

Questions about Additional floor in Kuwait City

Call now
How do we know if the house's foundations can carry an extra floor?

We take soil samples from around the foundations and visually inspect the columns and base, plus use testing equipment. A structural consultant then prepares a feasibility report showing bearing capacity and any reinforcement needed.

Can we use the existing house columns or do we need new ones?

It depends on the columns' condition and section size. If sound and thick enough, we reinforce them with carbon wrapping or add steel. Sometimes we place new columns alongside them to safely distribute the load.
