What sets this area apart

Taima in Jahra's desert suburbs has villas and small buildings, usually three storeys, on spacious plots from two hundred to two thousand square metres. The soil is very sandy and groundwater is deep, but extreme daily and seasonal heat swings require special concrete and reinforcement standards. Foundations need protection from shrinkage and expansion through regular construction joints, and the ground floor is designed with wider column spacings (due to weak soil) and thick beams to distribute loads evenly. Materials are high-strength concrete with additives to resist cracking.

Taima sits in Jahra governorate at the desert edge, marked by harsh thermal swings and sandy soil.

We place construction joints every fifteen to twenty metres in the ground floor to accommodate thermal expansion and contraction in desert heat.

Questions about Ground-floor construction in Taima

Call now
How do we protect concrete from cracking in extreme heat?

We use high-strength concrete with additives to reduce shrinkage and place regular construction joints in the ground floor to allow expansion. We also monitor cooling rate after pouring to prevent surface cracking.

Are column dimensions different in weak sandy soil?

Yes, we increase column diameter and base width to spread loads over more weak soil area. We also add more columns and space them closer to ensure frame stability.
