Additional floor in Kuwait - Farwaniya

Additional floor in Farwaniya

Adding a floor to a house in Farwaniya requires a full structural survey of the existing foundations, columns and slabs. We assess the frame's load-carrying capacity for the new storey, then execute any bracing or jacking needed before construction starts.

What sets this area apart

Most Farwaniya houses are three to four storey residential buildings on medium-sized plots, with structural condition varying from recent construction to older stock. When adding a floor, we first check the original soil report and existing drawings, then run tests on the concrete and steel to determine actual load capacity. If the foundations or columns are insufficient, we prop the house on hydraulic jacks and strengthen the frame from underneath before building the new storey on top of the existing columns.

Farwaniya is in Farwaniya governorate, a residential district of houses varying in age on plots of mixed sizes.

Municipality code limits total building height to fence height plus a fixed allowance, which constrains the number of storeys permitted.

Questions about Additional floor in Farwaniya

Call now
How do we confirm the foundations can carry an extra floor?

We review the original soil data and sample the concrete and steel, then calculate the dead and live load of the new storey and compare it to the foundation's bearing capacity. If it is insufficient, we deepen the foundations or add supporting columns.

Can the entire house be jacked up during bracing work?

Yes, using distributed hydraulic jacks under the columns and load-bearing walls. This allows workers to reach and reinforce the foundations from below before gently lowering the building back down.
