Additional floor in Kuwait - Daiya

Additional floor in Daiya

Additional-floor projects in Daiya require careful inspection of existing houses and assessment of sandy and rocky soil. We design the new floor with distributed load and test the existing foundation's capacity to bear it before construction starts.

What sets this area apart

Daiya is a residential area where most houses date from the 1990s and 2000s, built on sandy soil with rock veins. Houses typically have relatively deep foundations because of the area's geology. When adding a floor, we must respect the original design and transfer the new load directly to existing foundations or piles. Many houses near the British School have tight spacing between them, and extra protection for neighbours may be required.

Daiya is located in Capital governorate near the British School of Kuwait, a quiet residential area.

The rock layer in Daiya typically appears between 3 and 4 metres depth, which may affect new pile design.

Questions about Additional floor in Daiya

Call now
Does the rock layer beneath the house affect adding a floor?

Not negatively if we reach piles to it. Rock is strong and stable, but drilling is harder and slower. We test first, then plan excavation and reinforcement.

Do houses near the school need extra permits?

There are no extra municipal requirements, but the site engineer may request doubled protection for noise and vibration. We comply with approved work hours.
