Courtyard tiling in Kuwait - Qibla

Courtyard tiling in Qibla

Courtyard tiles in Qibla face year-round direct sun and seasonal rain, so we select heat-resistant tiles and prepare a level base with regular expansion joints. We set correct fall slopes toward drainage points to prevent water pooling on the surface.

What sets this area apart

Courtyards in Qibla are deep and narrow between tall residential buildings, limiting air flow and raising moisture concentration in corners. Tiles face sharp thermal cycles between day and night, especially in hot seasons, and the soil beneath is typically loose sand. We prepare the base with compacted gravel fill at uniform height, then plain concrete at least 12 cm thick, and we check the existing drain level before starting.

Qibla sits in Kuwait governorate, where dense residential buildings have deep courtyards between their street-facing walls.

The minimum required drainage fall in exposed courtyards is 1 in 100 toward the collection point.

Questions about Courtyard tiling in Qibla

Call now
How do we prevent tile cracking from thermal expansion and contraction?

We install flexible expansion joints every metre to 1.5 metres in both directions, and select tiles with a low thermal expansion coefficient designed for intense heat.

Can we establish a drain point in an existing courtyard?

Yes, but we need a small dig toward the lowest corner to install a drain pipe, then build tile slopes toward it. If no effective drain point exists, we consult the site engineer first.
