Additional floor in Kuwait - Salwa

Additional floor in Salwa

Adding a floor in Salwa begins with reviewing the original building file and calculating loads on the existing foundation and columns. We develop a comprehensive reinforcement plan before erecting any new formwork for pouring.

What sets this area apart

Salwa is a residential district of homes on medium-sized plots, most built three storeys high with conventional concrete frames from the 1980s and 1990s. Adding a fourth storey means checking the building's age and the concrete and steel condition, because older structures often have foundations designed only for three floors. We test concrete samples from the existing foundations and columns, then prepare a reinforcement study that may include foundation injection or installing auxiliary columns before pouring the new level.

Salwa is in Hawalli governorate, a traditional residential district near Mishref Park and Salam Co-op.

Most residential buildings in Salwa have exterior walls 30 centimetres thick, which we account for in load calculations.

Questions about Additional floor in Salwa

Call now
Can we add a storey to an older building from the 1980s?

Yes, but we inspect concrete and steel condition first. If the building is sound we reinforce columns by adding steel; if the foundation is weak we may need injection or auxiliary columns.

How long does foundation inspection and building reinforcement take?

Inspection takes two to three weeks, reinforcement four to six weeks depending on scope. The new storey pour then follows immediately after.
