Additional floor in Kuwait - Rumaithiya

Additional floor in Rumaithiya

Adding a floor to a villa in Rumaithiya requires studying the original foundation design and the shallow marine soil. We verify the current house stability, then execute reinforcement and the new storey as a single phase.

What sets this area apart

Rumaithiya villas sit near the seafront on medium plots, mostly one or two storeys with gardens. The soil here is shallow sand with very high groundwater, meaning original foundations may be shallow or on short piles. Adding a floor significantly raises the load, so the existing foundation must be checked and possibly deepened or widened. High humidity and salinity affect concrete over time, so we use salt and moisture-resistant concrete mixes for new sections.

Rumaithiya lies in Hawalli governorate and contains villas on spacious plots close to the seafront.

The groundwater level in Rumaithiya is usually no more than one and a half metres from ground level, which limits how deep a new foundation can go.

Questions about Additional floor in Rumaithiya

Call now
How do we handle high groundwater when adding a floor to the villa?

We use temporary drainage during excavation and pouring, and may need to pump water or build a light retaining wall. After completion, we restore groundwater to its natural state and waterproof the new foundation.

Is ordinary concrete suitable for the new foundation near the sea?

No, we use salt-resistant concrete with higher cement content and special admixtures to prevent corrosion. We also protect reinforcement from moisture and salt, and monitor periodic maintenance.
