What sets this area apart
Andalus buildings are residential blocks 5 to 8 storeys tall with reinforced concrete walls and concrete floor slabs, mostly built in the 1980s and 1990s with no original thermal break. The roof slabs are fully exposed to sun all day, and heat penetrates the top floor and corner walls intensely. We apply foam insulation to the external face of south and east walls, and lay a thick mineral wool layer on the top-floor ceiling before final plastering. We also seal air cavities around windows and doors to reduce heat leakage through the openings.
