Natural stone cladding in Kuwait - Hateen

Natural stone cladding in Hateen

Installing natural stone on villa facades in Hateen requires careful wall assessment and proper surface preparation before starting. We check for water seepage and existing cracks, grade and anchor the stone with mechanical fixings and steel reinforcement, then finish with grouting, pointing and sealing.

What sets this area apart

Hateen comprises residential villas in varied styles, some built two decades ago and others new. Older walls often suffer from seasonal rainwater seepage and moisture, especially on east and north facades. When installing stone on an existing wall, we strip old paint and surface layers, then prepare a minimum 5 cm air cavity behind the stone for moisture drainage. Each stone is fixed with at least two metal anchors, and we leave expansion joints every three stones horizontally.

Hateen sits in Hawalli governorate, a villa district near Failaka Road and Hateen Public Park.

Kuwait building code requires an expansion joint in natural stone every 3 metres vertically and every 1.5 metres horizontally.

Questions about Natural stone cladding in Hateen

Call now
Can natural stone survive summer heat and winter moisture in Hateen?

Yes, provided it is anchored correctly, backed with proper cavity drainage and finished with appropriate pointing. We use stone rated for thermal cycling, and leave regular expansion joints so the stone can move freely with temperature and moisture changes.

What is the difference between mechanical fixing and adhesive bonding for natural stone?

Mechanical anchoring with steel fixings is stronger and longer-lasting, especially for facades exposed to heat and moisture like Hateen. Adhesive alone cannot support the weight of large stone and does not allow proper thermal movement.
