What sets this area apart

The Ministries Area comprises government and administrative buildings five to ten storeys high on relatively large plots, mostly built in recent decades with strong concrete frames. Stone facades here follow strict ministerial specifications requiring specific stone grades and reliable mechanical fixing. We use stainless steel bolts and recessed anchors embedded in the stone itself to avoid visible fixings on the front, and inspect each stone unit before hoisting.

The Ministries Area lies in Hawalli governorate and houses the Government Ministries Complex and administrative agencies in modern buildings.

Mechanical stone fixing systems must withstand lateral loads of at least 1.5 kilonewtons per stone unit.

Questions about Stone & facades in Ministries Area

Call now
Can existing stone be reinstalled on an older government building facade?

In some cases yes, but we must inspect the stone for cracks and fractures and reassess the original fixing system. If the stone is sound and the backing structure is strong, we reinstall it with an improved fixing system.

What is the difference between mechanical fixing and mortar bedding for stone on a building facade?

Mechanical fixing with metal anchors is stronger, safer and allows ventilation behind the stone, whereas mortar bedding can trap moisture and cause salt growth and cracking. For government buildings we always use the mechanical system.
