What sets this area apart

Wafra has a rural residential character with homes and farms spread across wide plots at distance from each other. Most rural homes have individual gas meters and private networks that may run hundreds of metres from the supply source to the house or farm yard. Pipes are often buried in soil for protection against weather and mechanical damage. Leak detection in these conditions requires highly sensitive detection equipment and expertise in tracing extended pipes.

Wafra is in Ahmadi governorate, a rural farming community near the Saudi border.

Buried pipes in rural soil require annual pressure testing to detect corrosion and seepage caused by soil movement and moisture.

Questions about Gas leak detection in Wafra

Call now
How do we detect gas leaks in buried pipes under soil running hundreds of metres?

We use handheld thermal cameras and very precise detectors scanned over the soil surface above the suspected pipe. We also pressure test each segment of the pipe network to pinpoint the leak location.

Is it safe to dig up buried gas pipes for repair?

Distribution authorities must be notified before any digging to mark the pipe location precisely. We then carefully disconnect, remove the old pipe, install a new standard pipe and retest before putting the network back into service.
