What sets this area apart

Kabd is an arid desert zone with scattered villas, equestrian facilities and small agricultural plots on very fine, mobile sandy soil. Surface runoff is sparse but intense during seasonal rains. Drainage here requires reinforced pipes and very strong subgrade protection because soil can shift and cause settlement. We choose reinforced plastic or reinforced concrete pipes, and add extra protection around each inspection chamber.

Kabd sits in Jahra governorate, an arid desert zone known for camel racing track, horse breeding and rural pursuits.

Drainage pipes in Kabd require a compacted gravel protection layer at least 40 centimetres deep to prevent settlement on soft soil.

Questions about Storm-water drainage in Kabd

Call now
How do you protect pipes from subsidence in soft sandy soil?

We use a strong gravel base layer compacted over 40 centimetres, and select high-rigidity reinforced pipes. We assess soil conditions with a geotechnical study before design.

Is seasonal rainfall runoff very intense and could stress the network?

Yes, despite infrequent rainfall. When it falls, runoff is very intense because desert soil does not absorb water quickly. We size pipes and trenches with slightly larger diameter and gradient than standard.
