Yes, the work is done from the inside after cleaning and crack repair. Demolition is not needed unless the pit structure has collapsed or is beyond repair.
What signs mean the cesspit is leaking and needs waterproofing urgently?
Persistent damp soil around the pit away from any irrigation, sewage odour in garden paths, or a rising water table near the pit are all signs that the lining has failed.
How often does cesspit waterproofing need to be redone?
It depends on the coating material and the chemical load from the sewage. Checking the lining condition each time the pit is emptied is the most practical way to judge when recoating is due.
Is waterproofing a concrete pit different from waterproofing a block-built pit?
Block walls are more porous and absorb moisture faster, so they need deeper-penetrating products or extra coats. Concrete is denser but its cracks require precise injection to seal properly.
Does waterproofing the cesspit stop odours from reaching inside the house?
Waterproofing stops liquid seepage through the walls. Odours entering the house usually come from dry trap seals or loose vent connections rather than from the pit walls themselves.
