Bnaidar plots are wide and dispersed, containing relatively large villas ringed by external block walls roughly three metres high. Soil is deep sand, and groundwater is near the surface at some sites, requiring special foundation treatment. We pour a concrete base of adequate height before starting block, and use moisture-resistant mortar in lower courses. We review the drainage plan around the building with the engineer before beginning work to prevent water accumulation under the walls.
