What sets this area apart

Salmi villas scatter across a remote border area, built on mixed sandy soil with coarse sand. Houses here are older and simpler in design, often suffering from seasonal soil moisture and salt effects from proximity to wet zones. Renovation requires inspecting foundations and walls for accumulated salts and brick or stone erosion. We remove old finishes completely, treat walls with salt and moisture inhibitor, and install a new horizontal damp-proof layer under exterior walls before refinishing.

Salmi is in Jahra governorate near the Salmi border crossing area with Iraq.

Walls in Salmi are affected by salt efflorescence up to 30 centimetres from the ground, requiring complete removal of original finishes before salt treatment.

Questions about House renovation in Salmi

Call now
How do you treat salt efflorescence on old villa walls?

We remove all salt-affected tiling and paint, wash walls with fresh water multiple times to remove accumulated salts, apply salt and moisture inhibitor, install a new horizontal damp-proof barrier, then finish with new paint and tiling.

Do foundations need replacement if affected by salt?

Only if erosion is very deep. Usually we test-probe the foundations, remove only surface-affected brickwork, clean it, then rebuild a protective barrier layer before raising walls again.
